Somewhat Known represents a single Stockinger demi-muid of prime Banghoek Chardonnay. If you want to know why there is so much noise around the small Austrian cooperage then this is a beautiful illustration. The wine has somehow
managed to be relaxed and mellow whilst at the same time displaying it’s rippling energy, the oak being there in feel and shape but not flavour due to
ultra-low toasting levels. We bandy about phrases like integration and balance an awful lot in this business but every now and then a wine absolutely hits the nail on the head, this is one of those wines. It’s genuinely hard to believe that a wine with this much intensity and assured power comes in at just 12.5% abv.
